Eastown Veterinary Clinic is a 6,600 square foot expansion project in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The existing veterinary practice was a renovated bank building that was too small for their growing services. The owner also desired to have separate lobbies and exam rooms for dogs and cats. The site was very well located, but on the corner of a busy intersection with little room for expansion and no room for additional parking. Additionally, existing utility easements restricted the shape of the building. We designed a two-story addition with separate dog and cat lobby and exam rooms on either side of an expanded central treatment and surgery area. We maximized the available site area for the building and shaped the footprint along the easement lines. The second story was used for all of the offices, breakroom and utility requirements.
