Design Learned, Inc. has designed complete sprinkler, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems for multiple Tweeter retail outlets in the eastern half of the United States.  These facilities have as their primary goal the ability to attract customers and to optimally showcase the wide variety of products that Tweeter sells.

 One of the primary considerations in designing almost any retail space is lighting ö its color, placement, aiming, and adequacy.  Many hours were spent working with the client and the architect, in order to select the best and most efficient lighting fixtures, while still meeting project budgetary goals.  Another very involved system is the under slab wiring conduit layout, which now offers store managers a great deal of flexibility in the arrangement of equipment and sales displays.

Specialized lighting helps to accent products, and to draw attention into the various sales areas.

 The mechanical systems for these stores must also be designed to handle non-typical loads, as a great deal of extra heat is introduced into certain rooms, because of the special lighting mentioned above.  These mechanical systems must be quickly and quietly controllable, so that sales personnel can easily make adjustments, in order to keep the spaces as comfortable as possible while the number of customers varies throughout the day.

The lighting design must take into account the various special requirements of the owner.
